Public Space Installation Grant and Mentorship | Mixed-Media Installation
2024 | Okkenbroek | Deventer, The Netherlands
www.kunstvanhiertotginder.nl
A public space installation in a historical estate in the netherlands. I aimed to blend the history of the space, which focuses on community and togetherness, with elements of my own culture.
The concept is taken from moments that bring together community in India - events such as weddings, festivals and births. People of all walks of life come together and gather to celebrate moments of joy and life. The community around me has always been a sharing sort, where you help the people around you and share experiences with one another.
I was struck by the tranqulity of the sounds around me, and when I think of tranquility and peacefulness, I think of soft chimes in the air. I want to include wind chimes made of recycled materials in my project - instruments not played by man but by the rhythm of nature.

Little town - Illustration on Ceramic Tiles
2024 | Enschede, The Netherlands
2024 | Enschede, The Netherlands
This was a conceptual exploration - I thought about making an interactive table-top with ceramic tiles that could be positioned in any formation, and still they would match. I did this through making frames or the ceramics, meant to look like roads. The locations in the town are inspired by real and fictional places.
The next steps for this project are making game board tiles, such as snakes and ladders, ludo, monopoly and other traditional games.

bubblegum machine | Metal, 3D Printing, Wood
2023 | Enschede, The Netherlands
An assigment to use metal or wood to make a ‘box’ of any kind.
I wanted my box to include a mechanical element to it, so I decided to prototype a bubblegum machine mechanism to use in order to ‘open’ or ‘close’ the box. However, I found that wood and metal are not exactly condusive to the accuracy required for this kind of mechanism.
In order to improve the accuracy of the mechanism, I decided to 3D print the pieces. I made the model in TinkerCAD and got the pieces printed at TETEM FabLab. I was pretty happy with the pieces, but the downside of the plastic was that although it is durable, it lacks the strength required for the rubberband resistance mechanism.

bahurupi | Terracotta fired but unglazed
2024 | Enschede, The Netherlands
bahurupi is an installation inspired by the terracotta sculptures from Rajasthan, India, and the Terracotta army from Shanxi, China.
The title of the work means polymorphous, which refers to the ability to take on various forms or characters and is inspired by the bahurupi community of West Bengal. In this work, the terracotta assumes the form of an army marching towards and unknown.
This is a site-specific work, made to work only in the location it was exhibited in. The sculptures are tiny in order to make the environment look large.
Hold Me While You Wait | Oil on Canvas | approx 100x200cm
2023 | Enschede, The Netherlands
This was an assignment in my painting class, where we had to combine a music lyric with a painting. I think it’s a bit cheesy to have words on this kind of painting, so I decided to use a loophole and put the words in the back with acrylic paste, and paint over it with the background colour. Technically, the words are still there... just kind of hidden, but it fulfilled the assignment criteria :)
Friendly Gestures | Interview with Ed Fairburn
2023 | Enschede, The Netherlands
This was an interview for an assignment where we had to reach out to a stranger and make work related to the interview. Something for them, about them, inspired by them. A truly onderful experience to get to know Ed Fairburn, an artist that I have long been a fan of, as he is the ‘stranger’ I chose to reach out to.
